Chiefs Suffer Major Injury Blow Against Rams

Just when we thought our troubles were over after a loss against the Rams, there’s one more issue. While Ty Simpson dominated the second half of the game, one member of Andy Reid’s O-line was forced to watch from the sidelines. And ahead of a crucial stretch of the preseason, head coach Andy Reid has a troubling update.

The team’s troubles after a loss have just increased after an O-line member gets injured.

QB Garrett Nussmeier scrambled to the left as the Rams’ pass rush tried to corner him. Just as he neared the line of scrimmage, Nussmeier made a completion in the middle of the field for a first down.

The last two times the team finished the preseason undefeated, they reached the Super Bowl.

In 1966, they went perfect in the exhibition season and advanced to Super Bowl I. Three years later, in 1969, they again swept the preseason and then won Super Bowl IV—the franchise’s only championship of the AFL era. While preseason records are generally poor predictors of regular-season or playoff success across the NFL, those two undefeated summers remain the most notable historical markers.
